LOU DOG PROVES BARK IS AS BIG AS HIS BITE WITH 61 OLD DEPOT

The power of his songs and his talent as an arranger will make you a believer. SoundStage

PHILADELPHIA -- From the New York Press to All Music Guide and beyond, the media buzz is swelling around LOU DOGs latest release 61 OLD DEPOT, a gritty, street-wise rock album that shows a musical maturity beyond the DOGs years.

In a 5-STAR review, Pulse Weekly called 61 OLD DEPOT a truly poetic musical masterpiece, while SoundStage declared: A number of punk-influenced discs have been released to great acclaim in the last year, but few show the range or ability exhibited in 61 OLD DEPOT. Thats but a small sample of the praise LOU DOG has received on this no-frills, gritty yet very melodic (New York Press) album thats making its mark on the indie scene. As All Music Guide confirmed, 61 OLD DEPOT demonstrates that LOU DOG is deserving of wider recognition.

WHAT THEY"RE SAYING ABOUT LOU DOG

His writing and playing -- he performs all the music himself -- shines brilliantly. ... His style has all of the fuzzy warmth of Thurston Moores work (Sonic Youth), coupled with the extraordinary technique of Ira Kaplan (Yo La Tango). ... Lou Dogs lyrics are intelligent, witty and stream of consciousness. ... charming and refreshing. - Splendid E-Zine

bio
Who is Lou Dog?

Philadelphia-based garage rocker LOU DOG takes every long time musical influence he's got to create his unique and dirty rock songs. From Led Zeppelin, The Replacements and Radiohead to The Velvet Underground and Bob Dylan, LOU DOG took everything he learned from the masters to create and record his own vision. The LouDog Theory: three or four chords is pretty much all you need. He picked up the guitar in high school, started writing songs in college, and it was over.

After honing his skills playing guitar in several different bands, LOU DOG decided to take matters into his own hands and take full advantage of all the musical equipment made available to him. He quickly wrote a lot of material, played all the instruments on the recordings and released a cassette tape of songs in 1994 called LOU DOG and The One Watt Sex Machine. After holing up for a few more years, LOU DOG enlisted Philadelphia-based rock producer Bogdan Hernik (Astrud Gilberto) to help create the critically acclaimed 2002 release Slowly Drifting. Also well-received at college radio, the "magnifique-ly sneerie" (Philadelphia City Paper) debut album was produced, engineered and mixed at world-famous Indre Recording Studios by Hernik, who returns in the same capacity on LOU DOG's new EP, HIGH SPEED SECRETS.

"Bogdan understands my music and knows how to get the sounds," says LOU DOG. Over the summer of 2002, Hernik and LOU DOG moved their recording studio gear (Shoe Shine Studios) into a rented house near the beach in The Hamptons on eastern Long Island. They recorded 18 more songs there -- five of which became HIGH SPEED SECRETS. Mastered by Bob Ludwig of Led Zeppelin renown, the new EP is just a small taste of the full-length release due in summer 2003.
