GINA SCIPIONE SEIZES DESTINY AS CHARMING DEBUT CD, DESTINO, MAKES SINGER-SONGWRITER-PIANIST ONE TO WATCH IN 2003

"One of the Delaware Valley's hottest up-and-coming acts. ... (Scipione writes) insightful, intelligent meditations on relationships and the human condition (with) accessible melodies." - Courier-Post of Southern New Jersey

Gina ScipioneCHERRY HILL, N.J. -- With the new year starting to unfold, GINA SCIPIONEs reputation for gracefully intertwining piano and voice to create a unique mixture of introspective emotion and message continues to gain momentum.

The Bucks County, Pa., natives debut CD, DESTINO, was celebrated in Philadelphia  with a packed-room CD release party at the Grape Street Pub, while the album was proclaimed a charming ... gem by the Philadelphia Inquirer. DESTINO has also drawn quick notice from the rest of the Philly areas top print media, including the Philadelphia Daily News, Philadelphia City Paper and the Courier-Post of South Jersey, which proclaimed GINA SCIPIONE (skip-ee-YON) one of the Delaware Valleys hottest up-and-coming acts.

Outside of the region, Gina has been called a singer-songwriter with great promise by Rambles cultural arts magazine. Comparing Gina to Tori Amos, Chorus and Verse said DESTINO was like a storybook set to music, while Nefarious was impressed with the CDs emotional power. During Christmas Week, Gina emerged on the playlist of Rock & Pop Souffle at WRUW, Clevelands most powerful college radio station.

Destino is a charming ... gem.  - Philadelphia Inquirer

"One of the Delaware Valley's hottest up-and-coming acts. ... (Scipione writes) insightful, intelligent meditations on relationships and the human condition (with) accessible melodies." - Courier-Post of Southern New Jersey

Uplifting and inspirational! - Gene Shay, WXPN

Gina rises above the preconceived concept of a piano-playing singer/songwriter. She has created a unique sound that relies as much on melody and vocal intonation as it does on lyrics of strength and Independence. - Charlie Saber, WRUW-FM 91.1 Cleveland

Gina Scipione reaches inside herself and paints self-portraits for her listeners, creating music they can identify with in the process. She strikes them with the first piano note or vocalized lyric and gives them a musical biography. - Chorus and Verse

Not far removed from the meditative stylings of (Chantal) Kreviazuk and Paula Cole - The Ear

Emotional power - Nefarious Magazine

bio
When GINA SCIPIONE (skip-ee-YONE) sits down at her piano to write a song, shes as likely to be influenced by Kate Bush and Billie Holiday as she is by emotional collisions and waking dreams. Gina feels destined to share her personal yet universal experiences through song and performance, hence the title of her debut CD, DESTINO, the Italian word for destiny.

DESTINO brilliantly and succinctly crystallizes the life experiences she chronicles from one track to the next. Independence Day -- easily Ginas most-requested song in concert -- tells the story of taking back ones powers and ending a relationship with someone who was never really willing to give in the first place. Those unanswered offerings are further explored in My Request, about a womans wants and needs in a relationship (prompting men whove heard it to often call it The Commitment Song). Winter deals with separation from a lover, while A Moment of Truth tells of misunderstanding anothers intentions and Silence probes family dysfunction. DESTINO closes with Take Me to Freedom, a song of love without attachment intended to leave the listener reexamining unconditional love.
