DANCEABLY SWEATY ‘ROCK BAND WITH A LATIN SOUL’
TO WRAP ENORMOUS YEAR OF TOURING
ON TEXAS HOLIDAY SWING WITH DEL CASTILLO

‘BLANCO Y NEGRO’ PRIMED TO BE 2ND STRAIGHT TRIPLE A RADIO SUCCESS; ‘KARMA’ NOW IMPACTING AT HOT AC

NEW VERSION OF “LITTLE DRUMMER BOY” ARRIVING AT RADIO
JUST IN TIME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

“A winner right out of the chute. Excellent songs, fine singing, and stinging/soaring lead guitar.” – Vintage Guitar

NASHVILLE – With “Blanco Y Negro” on target to be its second consecutive Triple A radio success story and “Karma” now impacting at Hot AC after reaching No. 5 at Triple A, deSoL has finalized plans to wrap an enormous year of touring by joining Austin, TX’s steamy “neuvo flamenco” band Del Castillo on a holiday season swing through Texas.

Recently touted as “up and comers” by Rolling Stone, Asbury Park, N.J.’s danceably sweaty “rock band with a Latin soul” will cap its extensive fall tour by romping through Texas with Del Castillo from Dec. 1 through Dec. 10. As part of its extensive U.S. touring schedule, deSoL already has played several key shows in Texas this fall, including a media-frenzied performance at Austin City Limits Music Festival. The band is thrilled to be returning to the Lone Star State for a guided tour with its new Texas-based Latino brethren.

“We love Texas a lot. We’ve been getting a real warm response from Texans. And with Del Castillo being Texans and Latinos, I can’t wait to see how we connect with them and the Texas audiences together,” says deSoL lead singer Albie Monterrosa. “They came highly recommended to us by Jojo and Henry from Los Lonely Boys. We’re looking forward to having our new Latino brothers continue to open more doors for us in Texas.”

deSoL and Del Castillo will visit Corpus Christi, Lubbock, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and beyond during their Texas holiday run. deSoL has been touring the U.S. non-stop since the mid-summer release of its self-titled Curb Records debut CD, building an extraordinary reputation for its sizzling live show in the process. "The first band of the day to really get me going was deSoL,” said the Austin American-Statesman of deSoL’s Austin City Limits set. “Singer Albie Monterrosa packed plenty of charisma and guitarist Rich Soto was a soaring menace of shrill sustain."

The fall tour continues with a pair of upcoming Arizona dates with Widespread Panic and moves into Southern California, before heading home to the East Coast in November. Having spent most of 2005 on the road, deSoL will welcome 2006 with a homecoming New Year’s Eve show at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park.

And just in time for the holidays, deSoL has delicately infused its distinct Latin rhythms on a newly recorded version of the Christmas standard, “Little Drummer Boy,” produced by Curb executive Michael Lloyd. “Little Drummer Boy” will be serviced to Triple A programmers in November and also is included on a Curb Christmas sampler being shipped this season to Hot AC, Adult Contemporary and CHR stations.

“Blanco Y Negro” was the NO. 2 MOST ADDED track at Triple A after it impacted Oct. 3, besting the likes of Alanis Morissette, the Goo Goo Dolls and Jack Johnson. The lead track from the deSoL CD continues to pick up key adds and gain momentum at Triple A. Meanwhile, “Karma” keeps picking up significant adds in the Hot AC format while maintaining Triple A strength.

deSoL’s “vibrant, eclectic mix of rock, rap and Latin rhythms” (For Me Magazine, Oct .’05) prompted Latina Magazine to dub the band “the next Santana” in its October issue. deSoL soon will be featured in Billboard.com, following a recent New York Times feature which called the band “The Buena Vista Rock ‘n’ Roll Club.” Giant Magazine declared deSoL's set-closing rendition of "Oye Como Va" “One of the Best Moments at Lollapalooza," and said the band had so much energy “it made the 102–degree heat feel like 250.” And the Washington Post, in its recent review of deSoL's new CD, said Albie's “tuneful, crooning voice sails over the group's polyrhythmic thrust, and the songs he has co-written here are, well, let's put it this way: Santana wouldn't be badly served by covering a few."

As Keyboard Magazine proclaimed, “Viva deSoL!”

press quotes

"Rock Lives: Beyond Springsteen and Bon Jovi... Asbury Park, where Bruce Springsteen got his start, has one of the strongest pop identities of any city in New Jersey. That's a burden for any band from the area to overcome, but for deSoL, a new Latin group that has been making a splash not only down the Shore but across the country, it's just one aspect. … (deSoL is) part of the march of Latin music into the mainstream." New York Times

"These seven Latin hipsters have an explosive, addictive rhythm that would sound great in our IROC-Z Camaro (if we had one)." - Boston Globe

"This memorable effort indicates that deSoL is a band to pay very close attention to. 4 STARS"- All Music Guide

"HOT PICKS: Audiences will surely discover why seven (band members) is a lucky number." New York Post

bio

Curb Records logo A perfect musical balance is nearly impossible to achieve. It takes skill, a burning passion, and a vision that sees beyond the commonplace. For Curb Records' deSoL -- the Asbury Park, NJ rock band with the Latin soul -- a perfect balance is a way of life. It's the seamless blend of seven inspired musicians, a brotherhood whose collective name means "Of the sun." It's their heady, polyrhythmic mix of chanted melodies and mystical atmosphere with the contemporary edge of big modern rock hooks and flourishes of rap and hip-hop. It's songs like "Karma," from their debut album, deSoL, which draw people of all backgrounds into their vibrant, pulsating flow. And with deSoL's explosive live shows, like their recent appearance at the renowned Bonnaroo festival, that audience is growing with every performance.
