The band of seven "brothers" blends Latin and American
influences with a romantic style. It is gaining more exposure by opening
for R.E.M. in Mexico and playing with The Wailers.
El Salvadoran lead vocalist Albie Monterrosa's onstage
swagger combines passionately with the searing lead guitar of
classic-rock-influenced Soto. Together, they perform sensually around
the pulsating Latin rhythms of dual percussionists James Guerrero and
Armando Cabrerro. Their style is anchored by drummer George Saccal,
bassist Chris Guice and organic keyboardist Andy Letke.
The band's charisma and undeniably danceable rock
already has its hometown of Asbury Park, N.J., digging the Latin beat or
"Rock en Espanol" as it is called. With the release of "deSol," the
band's debut on Curb Records, it's sharing its infectious, impassioned
music with the masses.
