FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FEATHERMERCHANTS MOUNT MAJOR SPRING TOUR WITH GREY EYE GLANCES

Multimedia Remix EP released in conjunction with SXSW Showcase

NEW YORK CITY FEATHERMERCHANTS , the elegent NYC band that puts both the dreaminess and the rock into richly imagistic songwriting, is proud to announce a major spring tour as opening act for Grey Eye Glances.

FEATHERMERCHANTS shares not only a richly textured approach to songwriting and arranging with Grey Eye Glances, but a fiercely independent and innovative business sense as well. Both acts run their own Ryko-distributed record labels.

The tour will hit  major acoustic clubs, small theaters and non-traditional venues throughout the Northeast, including outdoor venues in late spring and summer. It kicks off April 3 at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia and will continue through the end of the summer.

FEATHERMERCHANTS also is adding select headlining dates and festival appearances to its tour itinerary. The first headlining date will be April 10 at the Lucky Dog in Worcester , MA . Another highlight is FEATHERMERCHANTS scheduled appearance with the B-52s, Marshall Crenshaw, Jill Sobule and others in a benefit for the Woodstock Day School in Saugerties, NY (June 26).

And what better way to prep for the tour than with a high profile showcase appearance at Austin , TX 's world class music conference, SXSW. FEATHERMERCHANTS will unfurl their striking Dream Rock for a festival audience with their SXSW showcase debut Thursday, March 18 at the Cooper Tank, 504 Trinity St. , in conjunction with the release of their multimedia EP, STREET THEATER.

Featuring six tracks and an enhanced content video for their compelling song, Dan (seen in rotation on the TRIO Network), STREET THEATER re-imagines several songs from FEATHERMERCHANTS' critically successful 2003 album, Unarmed Against The Dark, and their eponymous 2000 debut album.  Working on STREET THEATER with noted mixologist Nick Forte (Schematic Records), a digital visionary who plays a laptop like a Stradivarius, the band created several mixes of Ursuline, the most avant garde track from Unarmed Against The Dark.  The results are both danceable and wonderfully chaotic.

Fronted by enchanting lead vocalist Shannon Kennedy, the band includes guitarist/songwriter Pete Veru; guitarist/producer Jim Chapdelaine, who won an Emmy for scoring a PBS documentary on the making of Amistad; drummer Jon Peckman, and bassist Jay Wiggin.

Also on the new EP are a Shannon Kennedy vocal performance of Farmers Night Out, (Veru handled the original album version vocals) as well as producer Jim Chapdelaines reworked and remixed versions of Best Regards and Ludlow Street, from the bands debut album.

After an acclaimed debut album, which secured national distribution from Ryko for Veru's own Innocent 12th St. Records, FEATHERMERCHANTS released Unarmed Against The Dark, which was hailed as "certain to impress" by CMJ New Music Report and called "a perfect recipe for Triple A" by the influential Friday Morning Quarterback. FEATHERMERCHANTS were even said to "create a new realization in one's head" by TeenZone in South Africa, where the band has recently gained coverage in several major mens magazines, considerable radio airplay, and further distribution that has led to its inclusion as the only international artist on the new SL Magazine compilation CD.
