FRONT MAN NEVILLE STAPLE READY TO LEAD NEXT SKA REVIVAL ON U.S. SOLO TOUR
MARINA DEL REY,
CA - NEVILLE STAPLE, one of the undisputed forerunners of the legendary
English ska movement, is out on a spring U.S. tour in support of his new
solo debut on Cleopatra Records, SPECIAL SKANK SKA AU GO GO.
The original
Rude Boy -- best known for his distinguished vocals in The Specials, Fun
Boy 3 and Special Beat -- and his band of young Southern California
musicians, are crossing America for a three-week tour. The "Special
Skank 2003 World Tour" is sponsored by AirWalk.
Neville will
be performing a mix of old Specials hits and material from SPECIAL SKANK
SKA AU GO GO, an eclectic collection of new songs that takes him in a
surprisingly fresh direction, along with upgraded renditions of ska
classics.
Though The
Specials stopped performing together as a group in 1998, Neville has
continued his mission to entertain and enlighten audiences while
introducing them to some of his own new originals. Neville has been busy
performing in clubs and at festivals around the world, while he has
continued to write and record.
In April,
Neville recorded a video with Canadian ska men The Planet Smashers for the
band's new single, "Explosive." Neville also has a cameo role in
Michael Keller's film "Vampires Anonymous," which is currently
playing festivals.
Neville is
credited for writing the majority of the original songs for the film's
soundtrack.
