County Summer Concert Series
The Jersey shore's got the weekend entertainment market cornered, and
Philly's nightlife is pretty bling-bling. So what about the area
in between? Generally speaking, much of Jersey seems like a pit stop on
our way to and from these destinations. But a free outdoor concert
series may force us to pull over for a little longer this time around. A
monstrous entertainment package has been crammed into four concert
series situated all over the region: the Cooper River Park Concert
Series in Pennsauken; the Sunset Jazz Series in Camden; the Sundown
Music Series in Haddon Heights; and the traveling On the Road Variety
Concert Series all over the county. Highlights include next week's Tower
of Power show; an upcoming gig by Brit-movie imports the Commitments
with local Indre Studio heroine Nancy Falkow sitting in; and the remake
of a rumored 1965 meet-up between Elvis and the Beatles. Okay, so Jay Z
and Pearl Jam aren't on the bill, but we've got the Tweeter Center for
that. Take this opportunity to catch old favorites, learn some new names
and see how Camden County's starting to make a name for itself.
