Locally connected
While volunteers scrub the
stars on Broad Street's Walk of Fame Thursday, they'll be serenaded by
world-renowned gospel quartet The Dixie Hummingbirds; jazz saxophonist
Byard Lancaster; bands The Hot Club of Philly andBeretta 76, and
girl-group stylistsFull Circle.
Among the many celebrities
expected to lend a hand polishing the 106 bronze plaques commemorating
Philadelphia music professionals are jazz guitarist Pat Martino; Rob
Hyman of the Hooters; pop singer Kitty Kallen, and local folk guru Gene
Shay.
The fun, sponsored by the
Philadelphia Music Alliance, begins at 11:30 a.m. in front of the
Academy of Music at Broad and Locust Streets.
