ROBERT HAZARD
Acclaim Mounts as Veteran Tunesmith Uncovers "Rootsy, Blues-Inflected Side" with The Seventh Lake
Strong Response Sparks Production on Followup CD with 4-time Grammy Nominee Producing
"Robert Hazard has found a new powerful voice." - Sing Out!
"At times, he sounds like Scarecrow-era Mellencamp, tapping a wide range of folk and roots styles to spin his yarns." - Philadelphia Inquirer
ROBERT HAZARD has long been held in high regard for his craftsmanship as singer-songwriter and his ability to deliver his songs. But until recently, he hasnt truly unleashed the storyteller inside.
In an audacious return to his songwriting roots, as well as his recording career, the native Philadelphian - who now splits his time between the Adirondack mountains and the Central Florida coast - has reached deep from within to create his most recent album, THE SEVENTH LAKE. Produced by the legendary T-Bone Wolk (Hall & Oates, Carly Simon, Elvis Costello, Saturday Night Live Band). read more... |

press quotes
"EVERYBODYS TALKIN" ABOUT ROBERT HAZARD
"He has grown into his own skin with songwriting more personal and singing more natural than ever before. ... Robert Hazard has found a new powerful voice in the songs and performances on these two new albums." - Sing Out!
"At times, he sounds like Scarecrow-era Mellencamp, tapping a wide range of folk and roots styles to spin his yarns." - Philadelphia Inquirer
"The Seventh Lake is a perfectly paced, perfectly pitched tour of Americana." - Allentown Morning Call
"Reflective charmers like 'Everybody's Talkin', 'Route 666' and 'Whole Lot of Water' make a case that he's doing some of his best work." - Wilmington News Journal
"Hazard's new music establishes him as a poetic, sometimes autobiographical songwriter and a soulful singer. His music still rocks at times, but his blues and country influences are more obvious. - Newark Star Ledger
"(The Seventh Lake) is full of literate, moving roots rock." - Asbury Park Press
"The songs evoke Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska. The Seventh Lake ... broaches similar subject matter, too, addressing ordinary people with broken hearts and broken lives." - Princeton Packet
"A convincingly gritty acoustic singer/strummer." - Philadelphia Daily News
"Darn good ..." - Philadelphia City Paper |
bio
ROBERT HAZARD THE SEVENTH LAKE
I was born in Philadelphia in 1948. My father was an opera singer with the Philadelphia Opera Company. Obviously, I didnt follow in his footsteps, but did learn a bit about music appreciation.
I started singing and writing songs about about age 10. I didnt really play guitar till much later. In my teens I would audition at coffee houses like The Second of Autumn and The Edge in the Philadelphia area. I never got a job, but learned about acoustic music by hanging out at these places listening to Eric Andersen, Chris Smither, Jimmy Webb, and other great song writers and poet guitar players. read more... |
